As photographers we meet lots of people with different personalities and different expectations about their own wedding. Some are calm and quiet, others are crazy party people, some want elegant and elaborate settings, others want to be close to nature, some people feel a very strong connection to their spiritual counselor, others are pragmatic agnostics who’d rather have a humanist ceremony or no ceremony at all.
What they all have in common is this: they know who they are and they want their wedding to reflect that. People who come to us to photograph their wedding also have something else they share: they are confident and aware and they would rather keep the memory of how their wedding really was and how they really felt, rather than the ideal image of a perfect thing that never was.
Miru and Clemi drove this point home when told us who they are and what they like (and don’t like). From the first contact they were very open and honest and we were impressed that everything they chose to do at their wedding had meaning for them. As professionals living in London for many years, “we’re coming home for two reasons”, they said. “Our grandparents are important to us and we want to make it as easy as possible for them. And secondly, we want our friends from all over the world to see our favourite parts of Romania”.
And so it was. Their favourite parts, it turns out, were not things or objects, but their people, their stories, their memories. “We believe in the idea of a tribe, people we knew along the way, we grew close to and are now our extended family”.
Miru and Clemi were very sweet to their friends, to their family and to each other. Clemi prepared an epic surprise for his bride! He spent months learning to play the saxophone – before this, he says, “I didn’t even know to hold the bloody thing” – so that HE could give her one of her favourite songs, “Can you feel the love tonight?”. Everybody could feel the love and tears of joy were shed that night.
We are happy and honoured to have been there for Miruna and Clements’s wedding and excited to introduce you to the tribe!
